Creating Data Input Methods: Entry sequence issue??

Post by nugai »

I noticed that when I create a new Data Input Method, Output Field entries appear in the sequence I entered up to the 9th entry, and switch to a random order when I create 10 entries or more.

This seems to be more of a cosmetic problem than a technical one, as it is difficult to keep track of the integrity of the Output Field entries when dealing with 30-40 entries (i.e. if an entry exists or not).

Can any of the gurus coment on if there is a way to force the listing of Output Fields in either sequence as entered or in alphanumeric order?

AFAIK, your finding is correct, but cosmetic

Yes, it's cosmetic but the confusion it creates is a major pain in the neck when you have to define 2 dozen methods with 20-30 fields each.

There must be some technical explanation why there is no randomness up to the 9th entry and why it is there from the 10th entry onward.

The fact that randomness only occurs from the 10th entry onward feels a bit like a bug to me is that the -- as if there was an overrun of some sort or that something was not properly initialized.
