Problems installing in Arch Linux

Post by hades »

Hi All,

I've done cacti installations before and I don't usually have any problems, alas this time I'm a little stuck.

I'm trying to install 0.8.6h on arch linux with apache 2.2.0, php 5.2.1 and mysql 5.0.18. After I've created the database and populated it with the cacti.sql file, I browse the http://xxx/cacti and I only get a blank page.

In the apache error log I get the following:

Code: Select all

[Tue Mar 14 21:10:40 2006] [notice] Apache configured -- resuming normal operations
[Tue Mar 14 21:11:12 2006] [notice] child pid 14168 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Tue Mar 14 21:11:20 2006] [notice] child pid 14166 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
I've tried down grading apache to 2.0.x and php to 5.1.x and 5.0.x all with the same problem. The strange thing is that with my other web apps like phpmyadmin all seem to work fine????

Is this a problem with cacti or my distro?? any help is much appreciated.

Wayne.

Hmm, I can't help. Perhaps worth a bug report at http://bugs.cacti.net?

My installation of cacti results also apache to segmentation fault. However my problem is not all similar with yours. In my case I can generate graphs for localhost only. In case I add new devices the result is "blank page" and apache crashes for segmentation fault. The php script that causes it is host.php.

In case i edit localhost with host.php the result is the same. PLUS after that the graphs for localhost also stops working.

After that the locahost graphs can be re-woked is cacti database is dropped and reloaded + the normal installation finishing from http://myserver/cacti (which re-generates localhost to SQL database...)

I would suggest submitting a bug to the distrubution about php issue, than submitting a but to Cacti.
