Data Fed by user, not to collect by poll.php

Post by mingki »

Hi All,

I am new to Cacti and see it is really a great monitoring tool ever!

As far as I read the manual, the statistical data for each DS is polled by Cacti itself by running scheduled tasks. I wonder if it is possible to have a universal interface which the statistical data is submitted and logged to the corresponding rra?

For example, I really want to use Cacti to record the requests received by a ASP .NET Application via Performance Counter. I can write a simple application to read the value and fire a http post action containning the value and the name of the Data source. Is there any php script for Cacti to collect such posted value passively and update the database?

Regards,
mk

If your target server runs a http server, you may use cgi-scripts polled by cacti by e.g. wget to retrieve data
