WARNING: rrdtool-1.2.*-win32-perl58.zip Distribution(s)

Post by TheWitness »

All,

The Windows native version of RRDtool on the rrdtool.org web site is not compatible with Cacti. It has a bug. Therefore, for the time being, please use the one of the distributions found here: www.cacti.net/downloads

Can you tell me what kind of bug it is? I am successfully using it for graphing (still using old rrdtool for create and update). I wonder what do I miss.

RRDtool 1.2.6-win32-perl58 does not currently support the "rrdtool -" syntax that Cacti uses to run rrdtool in demon mode during updates due to the lack of support for the "chroot" command. I have discussed this with Phillipe. He is likely just too busy to fix at the moment.

Does the problem persist in rrdtool-1.2.10-win32-perl58.zip?

Hello,

Yes the problem seems to persist with rrdtool-1.2.10-win32-perl58.zip.
The rrd files cannot be created from cacti, we still get the error message below (when you do c:\php\php.exe C:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\poller.php)

ERROR: change root is not supported by your OS or at least by this copy of rrdtool

ERROR: change root is not supported by your OS

Post by sathish »

I am using the Win32 version of RRDTOOL.exe and have tried the memory and timeout changes suggested, but I am still getting this error - ERROR: change root is not supported by your OS or at least by this copy of rrdtool.

I also do not get any files in the RRA folder.

My configuration:
- Win2K3
- Apache 2.0
- PHP 5.0- RRDTOol 1.2.10installed rrdtool-1.2.10-win32-perl58.zip)
- Cacti 0.8.6g
- MySQL 5.0

Any other suggestions?

That version of rrdtool is not compatible with Cacti. Please goto:

http://www.cacti.net/downloads

Download the version there.
