We want to monitor about 200 U*ix hosts by SNMP. The monitoring objects include CPU, Mem, Hard disk, swap etc.
Could cacti do with it? what is the maximum number of object could cacti monitor?
Joe

Hi
it depends of the hardware you have on your Cacti server.
Mine is getting overloaded, with ~ 200 Unix servers, ~ 350 Windows servers and ~ 200network devices (see my signature). I'll move to a quad Xeon with 4 Gb RAM at the end of the month.

Re: How many host could Cacti monitor at most?
That depends (partly) on how you'll get the data. SNMP is fast, scripts are often slower and more CPU/memory consuming. See http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=6206 for some metricsjoe_hznm wrote:We want to monitor about 200 U*ix hosts by SNMP. The monitoring objects include CPU, Mem, Hard disk, swap etc.
