WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result:

Post by suexec »

I'm using the cmd.php poller. On various hosts, cacti gets no data through snmp. When I manually snmpget/snmpwalk, the results are there. When I turn on debug mode, I get:

02/21/2006 03:24:27 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[7] DS[54] SNMP: v3: mprwsu008, dsname: load_1min, oid: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.3.1, output: U
02/21/2006 03:24:29 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[7] DS[55] SNMP: v3: mprwsu008., dsname: load_15min, oid: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.3.3, output: U
02/21/2006 03:24:31 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[7] DS[56] SNMP: v3: mprwsu008., dsname: load_5min, oid: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.10.1.3.2, output: U

And on snmpwalk:
UCD-SNMP-MIB::laLoad.1 = STRING: 0.12
UCD-SNMP-MIB::laLoad.2 = STRING: 0.34
UCD-SNMP-MIB::laLoad.3 = STRING: 0.53

This is using cacti 0.8.6h. It is not a snmp timeout.

Reading on the other topic with the same subject, I've removed the datasources without any hosts defined. Problem still exists.

Hi

what versions of Cacti and cactid are you running ?

I'm asking because there's a known bug with cactid 0.8.6f and the load average data sources.

Cacti is version 0.8.6h and not currently using Cactid. I did however compile and try Cactid 0.8.6g. Cactid didn't collect any data for me, probably due to the usage of a nonstandard snmp port, so I went back to cmd.php but with multiple processes.

It isn't just the load that Cacti isn't able to get, but everything on a few hosts.

What I have noticed however is that after clearing the poller cache, sometimes a host that would not get any data would suddenly start working, but a host just before it stops getting data. Where one hosts graph data cuts off, another starts. I would think it may be a contention of some sort.

I thought I'd try running the poller manually.

php cmd.php 8 8

I am able to get some data when I strace the process. I've found a semi-work around. One process per host. When I upped the max number of processes to equal the number of hosts, I'm collectiing a lot more data now.

Please try the Cactid in BRANCH_0_8_6 of SVN. It corrects the port issue.
