no rrd's and graphs being created on first time installation

I have installed the latest ver ion of cacti

After having done the requisite installation when i loggin into the cacti I find ther are no default graphs.

No further analysis I found that no rrd's where being created in the rra dir
Neither there are any logfiles being created.

I have done chown root rra/ log/ where "root" is the user

On going into the data source screen I find an error:
CANNOT FIND DATA SOURCE : /home/httpd/htdocs/cacti/raa/sysload_avg.rrd

cacti is loaded at /home/hhtpd/htdocs/cacti

Please help]
