I just installed Cacti and it seems to be working for the most part. The localhost machine is graphing four differnt items. I am having trouble with a couple of items though. If I am looking at one of my Win2k servers I have three items in the Associated Data Queries area. One of those items is the ethernet interface. The other two are mounted partitions and processor. When I click on the "verbose query" link next to the interface I receive the following error.
Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /www/htdocs/cacti/lib/adodb/adodb.inc.php on line 866
Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /www/htdocs/cacti/lib/adodb/adodb.inc.php on line 866
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /www/htdocs/cacti/lib/adodb/adodb.inc.php:866) in /www/htdocs/cacti/host.php on line 75
If I clcik the back button in the browser I sometimes get the page showing the debug data that you would expect. Other times I just get the error again. I have not yet received the error when clicking the "verbose query" next to the partition or the processor. When I try to add a Host MIB Available Disk graph template I receive the following error.
Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /www/htdocs/cacti/lib/adodb/adodb.inc.php on line 866
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /www/htdocs/cacti/lib/adodb/adodb.inc.php:866) in /www/htdocs/cacti/host.php on line 123
I have not been able to find any good info on this type of error in the forums so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am running Fedora Core 4, PHP 5.1.latest as of 2/1/06, rrdtool-1.2.12, apache 2.0.55 and cacti 0.8.6b.
Thanks,
Paul

[solved] PHP error?

I disabled it during installation and I confirmed this (I think) by looking at the config file in the etc/selinux folder. The setting there is disabled as well.
When I installed everything I followed the install guide posted on the Cacti website. Some of the versions of software I installed were newer than the versions listed in the guide, but I tried to stick to the guide as closely as possible.
Another clue. When I try to graph a device that I created. I get an error when I try to associate the graph template with a device (i.ie. processor).
Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /www/htdocs/cacti/lib/adodb/adodb.inc.php on line 866

The graph appears to be created because when I go back in the device page it says that the the status "is being graphed". If I click on the edit link I am taken to the edit screen where I see the following error.
RRDTool Says:
ERROR: opening '/www/htdocs/cacti/rra/isa_2004_server_traffic_in_34.rrd': No such file or directory
If I look at the data sources area for the device it points to the same file that was in the error. If I look in the rra folder I do see some rrd files, but not the one mentioned in the error. There are several other files for this device, but they have differnt names. The names are just like the one in the error, but the number at the end is different.

[SOLVED] php err?
Upgrading to 0.8.6h eliminated the php error. Then I had an issue with rrd files not being created due to duplicate in and out data from the traffic template. This may have been my problem all along. I modified the template per this link http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=6773 and that fixed the duplicate problem allowing the rrd files to be created.
