graph & data input output question.

Post by tyrone »

Currently testing the latest .a version installed it on a windows nt 4.0 box
all is working well. but where pother people have problems setting it up i have problems creating a correct graph.

could somebody point my in the right direction with the case i present here:

1 - data input script test.pl with var out_test , the script ouputs a number
from 0 - 100 (queue counting).
2 - data source has been set as counter
3 - graph - base value = 1000, unit exponent = 0
4 - graph item - AVERAGE - AREA CDEF Function = ?????

now what i want to achive is on the horizontal is a time frame and on the vertical as max the highest number in the database of a timeframe.

i am unable to get the normal incrmenting number on the right side.
i tried a fev cdef funtions even tried creating my own. also i was unable to use the funtion max in the graph item.

what am i doing wrong?

is it correct to use as data input a number 0-100? (it will never max 100, and when i try fetch i get weird numbers in stead of the normal expexted ones)

can someone point me in the right direction?

i guess that someone should have had this problem?

Thanks in advance.

i wantend to add also that in teh currect graph i see if i input into the database the number 15 the grpah will show :

15.0

14.9

and that is it. if i input 14 as a numbre i wont see like 15.0 14.0 acutally i wish to see 15 , 14, 13 etc.

like see'n on http://www.bigspring.k12.pa.us/cacti/gr ... &rraid=all
there will see the amount of open files also in 100 and 200

Thanks in advance

2 - data source has been set as counter

If your output value can change between 0 and 100 and it is not constantly growing value then you should use GAUGE (not COUNTER).

as i did. i have it working. but for one thing

i followed this procedure :

http://www.raxnet.net/board/viewtopic.p ... t=vertical

(stupid me looked over it.)

the only question i have left it the definition for the vertical numbers

currently i have x.0 but i only want x (without .0)

Thanks in advance.
