WBEM query support

Post by ehall »

There's lots of interest in being able to monitor WMI stats from Linux servers.

What follks may not realize is that WMI is just WBEM, and there is some useful WBEM info to be had from some other platforms too.

So, as a general architectural consideration, adding WBEM support, and using a WMI-WBEM proxy, would solve the big problem and open up some additional opportunities as well.

FYI, there are a couple of WBEM-WMI mappers out there. OpenPegasus is the obvious one, and already runs on Linux I believe.

See also http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files ... 21071.html as an example of how this is handled in HP SIM, which uses WBEM primarily, and uses a WBEM-WMI gateway running on any windows system. I'm pretty sure this is just a port of the Pegasus gateway.

I got this working -- http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=56154

Embedding a WBEM wrapper into cacti would be good.

Yes very good.

With the wrapper of HP there is a problemi it's not support query WMI singleton.
I trying to recompile the version 2.6.0 on windows but there are errors on WMI Mapper.
