There's lots of interest in being able to monitor WMI stats from Linux servers.
What follks may not realize is that WMI is just WBEM, and there is some useful WBEM info to be had from some other platforms too.
So, as a general architectural consideration, adding WBEM support, and using a WMI-WBEM proxy, would solve the big problem and open up some additional opportunities as well.

FYI, there are a couple of WBEM-WMI mappers out there. OpenPegasus is the obvious one, and already runs on Linux I believe.
