Turn the polling level in cacti to debug (Settings | Polling level) for one cycle and paste the output of the actual log file (./cacti/log/cacti.log). If it contains WEBLOG entries, then don't bother posting since they just clutter up the log. Turn off WEBEVENTS logging and try again.

What version of everything are you running?

versions are:
Slackware 10.1 kernel 2.4.26 custom (no scsi/sound, with bridging)
cacti-0.8.6h.tar.gz
freetype-2.1.9
rrdtool-1.2.12
net-snmp-5.3.0.1 (set to version 1 on install, running with: 'snmpd 127.0.0.1:161'), cacti says:
SNMP Information
System: 00:LINUX:NOC:2.4.26_AT_SEL_IT:#2:SMP:TUE:DEC:07:14:33:38:EET:2004:I686
Uptime: 5738878
Hostname: noc

(note: mrtg works and graphs ok (attached), but i want cacti, it was reccomened as being the best)

i turned off cron and set log level to debug
i ran php poller.php and got these:
in the log file:

02/01/2006 09:51:36 AM - POLLER: Poller[0] DEBUG: About to Spawn a Remote Process [CMD: /usr/bin/php, ARGS: -q /sel/www/trafic/cacti/cmd.php 0 2]

Please turn logging to DEBUG and then open a shell window, cd to the cacti web root and run the following command:

"php <path_cacti>/cmd.php"

Post the output.

Interesting. It should be running. Please use the same instructions as before, but run from the Cacti web root the following:

"php poller.php"

Post the output. I am suspecting a permissions issue.

meanwhile, i get this in the log:

Seems odd. I would suspect a possible permissions problem. Have your cron output redirected to a file for 1 pass. In that file, you should see many "Ok's" as you saw in the manual output.
