Hi
Please excuse me if I appear disorganized. I am new to cacti & its forum.
This posting is intended to follow on from my earlier post with more info.
I have the problem of all my graphs being displayed blank.
here are the files Currently In use:

1) keep posts to the same topic
2) Since you're using rrdtool 1.2, you MUST define a RRDTool Default Font Path.
3) Turn the polling level in cacti to debug (Settings | Polling level) for one cycle and paste the output of the actual log file (./cacti/log/cacti.log). If it contains WEBLOG entries, then don't bother posting since they just clutter up the log. Turn off WEBEVENTS logging and try again.

Blank Graphs (view the debug output)
I added and Saved the following 'RRDTool Default Font Path' in cacti:
c:/winnt/fonts (attached)
My log file at 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\log\cacti.log' has been 0 KB (empty) from the start until now so I double-checked the securities on the 'log' folder and the actual file. (attached)
On the file I checked 'Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object' so the security is displayed the same as for the folder.
I would have added IUSR but I don't see one. (I don't know anything really about why/when there will be an IUSR account. I thought it would be there once IIS is on!?)
OK so the graphs are still blank.
Here is the debug from the command prompt (again)

Thanks again then. I changed Default Font Path to:
c:/winnt/fonts/arial.ttf
OK So that's good news. First time I've seen labels & stuff on the graph.
(attahced)
But the actual graph though. Haven't seen that.
Also I was looking at the settings for 'Default RRDTool Fonts' as per attached. Can I fill those spaces with 'c:/winnt/fonts/arial.ttf' as well?
Any idea why the log file is empty?
Really Appreciated
Adrian

I have determined that my .rrd files are not being updated every 5 minutes.
I checked the scheduled Task that I created and I can't imagine what could be missing if anything.
When I run "php C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\poller.php" at the command prompt, the .rrd files are updated.
Whats else should I check?

You have a user security problem. make sure your IIS_USR has modify rights on the rrd and log folders.
Read the install guide in my signature.

Thanks again.
I'm really trying to check everything here.
(1) I googled but have not found an install guide in your signature. I assume its easy to find but I have not been diligent enough.
I installed using: http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... ndows.html
(2) Please clue me in on this IIS_USR thing. I may very well be lost.
I attached the image showing the last user I added to the securities tab of these folders. This is what I'm thinking is the IIS_USR.
Pls correct me if I am wrong.
It does not seem to have made any difference.
(3) My Cacti.log file is still empty and .rrd files are not being updated every 5 minutes.
I expect this will be the case until I coorect the permissions issue on the folders
Adrian
I'm really trying to check everything here.
(1) I googled but have not found an install guide in your signature. I assume its easy to find but I have not been diligent enough.
I installed using: http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... ndows.html

1) My signature.... as in the stuff you see below each one of my posts. Here is my guide http://bsod2600.home.comcast.net/install_windows.html
2) You do not want to give IIS_USR full control over anything. It's a major security risk. Also give the user running the scheduled task modify rights to the rrd and log folders. If you're on windows 2003, you'll also need to give IIS_WPG modify rights to the rrd and log folders.

OK thanks a lot Mediator.
(1) Good news is that the graphs are showing up. The error was a fairly silly one on my part:
At the Scheduled Task properites I did not set the correct administrator password.
There is a good reason for that (I dont want u to think I'm a total idiot) but I wont go into details.
Well all the while following error was being logged in the file at C:\WINNT\SchedLgU.Txt every 5 minutes:
The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed, therefore, the task did not run.
The specific error is:
0x8007052e: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.
Anyhow the rrd files are now being updated.
I went to reduce IIS_USR permissions on the folders, but when I click on 'Modify', 'Full Control' becomes automatically checked. So I'll have to leave it as it was until I learn something new.
(2) Bad news is that the file cacti.log is still empty even though It has the same permissions as the rra folder.
Can you say if this requires a different user's permission?
I made sure the cacti settings are in "DEBUG" mode, and I ran the
following command at the CLI: php C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\poller.php
All those plenty statements appear on CLI but nothing in the cacti.log file.
Well I'm really pleased that the graphs are showing and I know your help sped up the trouble-shooting process thoroughly - thanks again.
I'll look forward to any advice on getting the log file to be updated

1) Do you see any data in your graphs now?
2) So you have IIS_USR, IIS_WPG and the user running the scheduled task, all have 'modify' rights to the /cacti/log and /cacti/rrd folders? If there is a blank cacti.log file, delete it too.

Alas...
I deleted the empty cacti.log file and now its being updated with the polling. Solved that problem.
Of interest though, I was trying to set the correct properties on the folders. I got them Modify rights for the IUSR_<machine name> and IWAM_<machine name> account (attached).
I never found any IIS_USR nor IIS_WPG accounts and I wonder if you can say whether they are the same thing.
I googled [IIS_USR IUSR IWAM] and there is only one result which is of no use.
So In effect my problems with the graphs are completeely solved to the best of my knowledge.
Much thanks again & congtrats on a job well done.
