Just got it all working this week - what a job!
I think everything is working as I am getting what seem to be meaningful graphs.
However, when the poller activates and I can briefly see the cmd windows, I catch a glimpse of the message ->refused in the Cactiplus window. Have been told by a local contact that "refused" is not in cacti code.
Should I be concerned?
My setup is as follows:
MySql 4.1.16
PHP 4.4.1
Cacti 0.8.6H
IIS5
Monitoring on an XP box.
Appreciate any comments/suggestions ...
error message : ->refused

1) read the install guide in my signature
2) install the patches for cacti
3) manaully run: php <cacti path>/poller.php from the command prompt and see what happens.
4) Turn the polling level in cacti to debug (Settings | Polling level) for one cycle and paste the output of the actual log file (./cacti/log/cacti.log). If it contains WEBLOG entries, then don't bother posting since they just clutter up the log. Turn off WEBEVENTS logging and try again.

Thanks for the swift reply.
Worried about running a manual poller as I read in some posting that this could cause problems with the graphs. A manual poller will give access to who is logged in at the computer and won't be accessible by the user logged in on the cacti website, I think that is the gist of the issue.
Since I am loathe to fool with anything that is actually working at this point, I'd like to hear your reply to this before I run a manual poller.
Thanks again ...

Manually running the poller for debugging purposes is ok. The only problem it creates is that rrdtool/cacti is set up to poll only every 5 minutes. So when you run it more frequently, it wont collect data on some cycles, depending on when it was last run.
