Alpha Transparency and SVG option

Post by idgarad »

We hacked it here at work but RRDTOOL allows for #RRGGBBAA where AA is the transparency value. Could that be slipped in the next release?

Also and option of using SVG rather then PNG or would that cause problems for the zoomer on graphs?

Not too sure about this one. Question, since we display these colors from the UI, does Alpha Transparency work on most browsers?

It's just a transparency in the image, browser does not matter.

Is this planned for 0.9.0? I could really use this feature with some stuff. Like, my UPS monitoring graphs have two areas (current load, and battery charge), and I could make the former red transparent against the latter brown, so that the load graph is ~black when battery supply exceeds load but switches to bright red when the battery level drops below the load.

Definatly planned for 0.9.0, as it will have full rrdtool 1.2.x support.

We are currently kicking some ideas around for support in 0.8.6 tree.

I think I did this right....

I bumped the colors table value hex to varchar "(8)" and then added a a test color of 4668E4AA (I may add a better color test soon) and then selected the new color under the graph template..[/code]

There is a little more to it to make the UI happy. I have modified code, but have not chosen, for various reasons, to publish at this time.
