....with cacti?
other than the one that comes form microsoft.
has anybody noticed any incompatibilities between cacti and mssql-mib& mssql agent?
I need to monitor with cacti multiple instances of MSSQL server (not only the default instances).
Any ideas?
thanks,
Adrian
does anybody know a free snmp agent to monitor MSSQL...

A WMI script might work for you. You trying to monitor Microsoft SQL or MySQL? If the latter, there are already scripts available in the script forum.

My task is to monitor with cacti via SNMP the Microsoft Sql Server instances on multiple windows machines.
I have to use SNMP and not WMI because we have come to the conclusion that SNMP is more relieble.
I have already succeeded in monitoring cpu memory and disks on those windows machines using xml files.
Using the MSSQL-MIB I tried the same method, and it doesn't work. I get nan on the graph.
The oid is right, I checked with an independent snmp walk, and also with cacti cache and with the "verbose query" in cacti.
So I do not know where is the problem. A little help?
Thanks,
Adrian.

Try using net-snmp snmpwalk on the primary OID for the MSQL OID and see if you find anything.

ok.
with net-snmp i did this:
c:\usr>snmpwalk -Os -c public -v2c 192.168.100.18 .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.4.1.1.1.1.5
and i got:
enterprises.311.1.4.1.1.1.1.5.21.77.105.99.114.111.115.111.102.116.32.67.111.114.112.111.114.97.116.105.111.110 = INTEGER: 1
i have also attached the xml query.
the cacti verbose query gives me the following answer:
Running data query [31].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/usr/share/cacti/site/resource/snmp_queries/win32_mssql_srv_table.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.4.1.1.1.1.5'
+ Located input field 'MssqlSrvTable' [walk]
+ Executing SNMP walk for data @ '.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.4.1.1.1.1.5'
+ Found item [MssqlSrvTable='1'] index: 110 [from value]
i get "nan" on the graph.

Did you create that template or download it? I believe you need to include the tableindex as a field.
When you click on 'create graphs for this host', does the MySQL section look correct? If not, then that is why your graphs are not working.
