bulk adding graphs to a heirarchy

Post by valen »

I suppose it's a feature of cacti's easy-to-use UI, but I'm getting really bored adding SNMP stuff. I've just added a graph for each of my four 24-port switches. That takes a while, when you have to change all the data-source names as the switch has colons in their names.

Now, I want to make four graph heirarchies, with all 24 graphs for each switch in there. I'm crying out for a version of cacti that allows me to add graphs to a heirarchy with a multi-select list box, rather than a drop-down menu. Has anyone out there made such a patch ?

Have I got a treat for you. I had the exact same frustration, so I went out a wrote a handful of perl scripts to address it.

The switch.pl script should run on Linux. There's nothing Windows specific about it. I use standard SNMP stuff to gather the stats and create the graphs. Using the script, you should be able to setup IfEntry and RMON etherStats graphs for every port on a switch from a single command line in about 10 seconds.

Let me know how it works for you.

It would be nice if the screen to add graphs to a tree was changed to a format similar to that of the graph management screen. You simple check which graphs you would like to add and then it adds them all. You can then adjust the ordering after it dumps them in.
