ExtremeWare

Post by phiber »

I have been trying to get Cacti to graph some extreme switches for awhile now with no luck. The switch says SNMP is on and enabled. I have no access list on it preventing access, but I just get SNMP Error when I try to setup the device.

Any suggestions?

Can you access any SNMP info on the switches from an snmpwalk?

No.

I'm thinking that this may be a problem with the Switch or the Software on it. I have no problems on my Summits, but this Alpine just seems to not want to work. I don't even see the SNMP port open on it when I nmap it.

I guess I'm going to have have to get with Extreme and see about getting a software upgrade.

Thanks,

What version EW you using? I have 7.2 and 7.3 working fine and had 6.2. I also have XOS 11.1 and 11.2 working.

I do recomend the template found at:
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=6909
grab tempeture on the switch.

The problem switch is running "6.1.4b12". Hopefully not for long though.

is it still a mess with snmp and Extreme.
Now with XOS 11.3 it works much better but it has some dangerous Bugs in it...

Cheers Uli.

I upgraded to the newest ExtremeWare and SNMP is working fine. Cacti however does not seem to be able to poll correctly. I switched back to MRTG until I can sit down to figure it out.

If you are able to snmpwalk your extreme target devices from your cacti servers cli, it should be no problem with cacti. Pay attention to provide correct SNMP Version, Port and Community String and it should give you the results

I can snmpwalk it and Cacti can get all the info. I try to create graphs and it gets to about the 30th interface, and times out. Then it will not graph the interfaces.

What cacti version? I know 0.8.6h supports snmpbulkwalks which is way faster than before.
