Is the historical data stored in the database? or in path-to-cacti/rra ?

In rra directory - rrd files. You can just copy them as long as you don't change cacti platform. When moving files between wnidows and unix export to text files and import back is needed.

I am using the 0.8 Build for 04/01/03 and it works great, I have no complaints or real big bugs with it so far, it's fixed the expand/collapse tree which was my last real need.

I had troubles with the version of April 3, went back to the April2nd version and that working ok. April 3 version I kept getting back into the conversion menu.

April 2 version converted my data ok. But at the moment I do not see the histroy, copied the rra files, but none of my graphs has history and also they are not all working.

What I am really missing is the cron output command, which I use to check if a new statement is working.

Also I don't know how to refresh a snmp host to look for the interfaces inside the system.

Just to test, I ran a diff between cacti-0.8-pre20030402 and cacti-0.8-pre20030403. The only changes I made were to tree.php and cacti.sql, and nothing to the installer. Therefore I am having trouble seeing what could have changed between these two versions that could be causing your installer-related issue.

About 'Cron Output' in 0.6.8, this functionality has been replaced by the 'Poller Cache' under 'Utilities'.

You can you can refresh an SNMP interface, even though it needs to be more intuitive. Simple goto the desired host, select 'SNMP - Get Interface Statistics', and choose 'Add'. This will re-cache the interface or add it if it has not already been added.

Just did a check, think the mysql database screwed up.

Found the snmp refresh thanks.

Also had seen the snmp poller in the utilities, but I do not see how to do a show output, which will indicate if the command is working ok, at least I used it for that.

Has anyone had issues with the database upgrade and data sources? It seems as though none of my data sources were converted. The conversion results screen said that the data sources passed but the data source entries failed.

I would like to try and fix this if possible. Grab the latest release, drop your database, create a new one from 'cacti.sql' and re-run the import process. If you still get errors about 'data source entries', the actual SQL that is being executed will be outputted to the screen. If that happens, just paste it here or e-mail it to me.

Anyone else run into this??

I can take a few stabs at what would initially cause this, but I can't nail one thing down without taking a closer look. If you are feeling nice and have a little time, it would be cool if we could debug this on your installation. The errors that you are getting aren't particularly serious, but I think something is going wrong during the import that is causing this.

i have some Problems with cacti_beta and W2K (using IIS).
I Tried to upgrade from 0.68. I followed the Upgrade-instruction, loged in as "Admin". The i was asked for the settings for the old "cacti"-Database. Everything seemed to work fine. When Pressing the "finish"-button i got some errors like this:

I created a new data template to go along with the current memory information. It is an exact copy of the data template for getting memory available. There is one change however. I am calling the MIB to get the total memory. I know this might not seem like a big deal but it easliy allows me to graph memory usage without having to figure out what scale I am currently at. After creating this data template and adding it in to the memory usage template just like the others are added in (as a line instead of a stack) I can no longer actually add a new host without getting the 4 lines mentioned about for linux to show up. Getting pretty confused about this. And suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if anyone is having this problem... I was able to install Cacti8 (new install) and get it working. I added Cisco 3640 router and setup SNMP. It gathered the interfaces and I created a graph from one of them. In the Data sources I see the entry there. Here's the debug info:

Everything looks ok but when I look in the Poller Cache, there isn't anything in there. Am I missing a step? I setup the cmd.php to run and it's working fine.

I'm having the same problem. It'll poll the CPU usage but that's about it. Clear the poller cache, still no entries from the routers and interfaces I have set up.

Yeah, the CPU polling works fine but nothing else. It does the SNMP get and list all the interfaces but that's about it. I can create the data sources from the polling host along with the necessary graphs but nothing is actually logged. I am using the 04/18/03 release.

Using the latest release, do the following.

1) Drop your 0.8 database and delete your old pre-release.
2) Create a new database and import the contents of cacti.sql into it.
3) Edit config.php to point to this database
4) In a web browser, go through the installer and select 'New Install' when asked.
5) Login, and select 'Polling Hosts'.
6) Add a new host, giving it an IP, description, community, etc.
7) Click "Save" and go back into the edit screen for the newly added host.
8) Select "SNMP - Interface Statistics" under "Associated SNMP Query" and click "Add".
9) Select some interfaces, choose "In/Out Bytes", and click "Save" below, and "Save" on the next screen.

You should see data sources and items in your poller cache corresponding to the interfaces. I followed these exact steps using a fresh installation of the latest pre-release and it seemed to work for me.
