5 Feature Requests after Intense Cacti Session

Post by philovivero »

I have just gotten done with about 1.5 weeks of intense Cacti usage, building the MySQL graph templates (http://www.faemalia.net/mysqlUtils/ if you care), and I think I have a few suggestions...

1. RRD filename based on graph template name, not random data source name?

2. Deleting graph template from device tells you it isn't actually deleting anything, just not graphing that graph for that host anymore, and suggest that you actually delete all data sources for that graph.

3. Check/uncheck option for every X in the list, for example, uncheck the logarithmic checkbox for all graph templates for this host template, or for all graphs for this device.

4. Duplicate a data input method. So I don't have to type the same command string, hostname, username, password input fields over and over and over and... over.

5. Input focus to first text entry widget on HTML page load. When you're entering 500 items, the more keyboard-only you can do, the better. Try using only the keyboard to add 10 hosts to the Tree view.

Thanks for the cool tool, anyway. Even with all the warts, I think it was faster to use Cacti than to roll my own MySQL cluster monitoring tool. And it's a bit prettier than Ganglia.
