Some Help for Newbee

Post by mdeters »

Hi.

I made my first tries with cacti.
I made the install by the howto from BSOD2600.
One question: is it right, that I set password in mysql like this:
GRANT ALL ON cacti.* TO cactiuser@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'somepassword';
and when I edit the configs i set password like this:
DB_Password cactipw
and
$database_password = "cactipw";
shoudnt there are the same passwords?

Perhaps this is the solution for my problem.
I installed everything under Windows XP (PHP4, MySQL 4.0, Net-SNMP etc.)
So i started the Webbrowser and insered my first device. a Cisco router.
I insered the SNMP comunity string and so on. Under "Devices" I can see, that the router is "UP", so cactia is getting data. I also can see all the interfaces of that device. So SNMP ist working right.
When I want so the the graphs, I can see nothing. I get a little icon with an "X" and the name of the device and then interface.
I already searched for a solution in this forum, so I checked the permissions of cmd.exe and rrdtool.exe.
But when executing the poller.php maually, I get this message:
ERROR: change root is not supported by your OS or at least by this copy of rrdtool
Could this be the problem?
