Large RRA files, want to reduce

Post by wredniak »

Hello,

I have cacti with about 150 devices, with a very large rra files (about 6mb each) .. on my PC (workstation) one cycle of gathering data takes more that 5 minutes.

Daily (5 Minute Average) - rows 51840 - Timespan 86400
Weekly (30 Minute Average) - rows 8736- Timespan 604800
Monthly (2 Hour Average) - rows 2160- Timespan 2678400
Yearly (1 Day Average)- rows 288 - Timespan 33053184

how reduce this values (this is easy) and how to reduce size of rra files?

i think it's using "rrdtool resize filename rranum GROW|SHRINK rows", but hat i should set as 'rranum'?

maybe there is a way to speed up rrdtool? but i think it's my hdd slowing all and it wouldn't help

Please run

Code: Select all

rrdtool info
against those rrds. This will tell you about the rra numbers. Post the output if you have problems to understand them.
