I'm new to Cacti and finally getting a grasp of things slowly, but ......slowly
One problem that I've yet to solve relates to graph previews. For whatever reason, the graph preview simply shows up as a box with a red x giving me the impression that the underlying file is not there or there are permission problems. Strangely though, clicking this preview icon yields all the underlying graphs in perfect form. Can someone explain to me where the preview comes from? I was under the impression it was just a "oversized thumbnail" or the graphs. Why would the graphs work, but not the previews.
Traditionally problems with graph preview have been caused by older versions of rrdtool. Cacti makes use of the '--no-legend' option which older versions do not seems to support. I recommend upgrading your version of rrdtool and trying again.

Next time check the date, if it's to old, post a new one.
Double check your Settings for the RRDtool version on the General Tab.
