hi, currently the rrd files will have a device name and then a identifying number.
Is this the SNMP index of the interface on the device ? I would like to write some script to identify what interface any specific rrd file in refering to.
long term plan is to generate png's of certain interfaces (customer interface) from rrd file and generate customer specific reporting.
hope this makes sense. any advise appreicated.

No, the number that cacti automatically assigns to the rrd file is random (well not really... it's the next one in line somewhere in the mysql database... don't really understand the exact process). Just click on the interface in Data Sources to see what rrd file goes to what interface.

The number is accually the local_data_id.

ahh ok. great thanks. my next question is, will this id always stay the same ?
(e.g after a interface list refresh in cacti - say maybe i add more ports to a switch)
from looking at data sources method, i can manually build a table that matches rrd file to customer interface. then use this relation as hardcoded
into my script.
e.g router.id.rrd will always be for customer x.
