only localhost is up ?

Post by cousinhub »

Hello,
Sorry for my bad english i'm french.
I have installed Cacti 0.86g with pre-patchs on server W2K SP4 with easyphp1.7 with all components includes ( apache 1.3.27, php 4.3.3, mysql 4.0.15 )

I done installation succefully, but i can't do any graph on remote servers with templates while the status isn't "UP"

If i do a graph on remote host without define like "Devices", cacti runs well without problems. ( example in the Cacti manual with ramdom function )

- I tried with the poller method "cmd.php" or "cactid" same results.
- Cacti seems doesn't recognize the remote host with SNMP as like PING function.
Have you an idea about this problem ?
Think for yours answers.

1) You really should be using php 4.3.6 or greater
2) Change your Downed Host Detection in Settings | Poller to SNMP.

I see you didn't change your Downed Host detection, why not? Also, you might want to change the ping type from UDP to ICMP.

Hello,
I have changed the ping method UDP -> ICMP, same result.
After, I have changed poller method cmd.php -> cactid, now the host status runs well, but scripts results are empty !?
See the attach file for more informations.
Thanks for our help, see you later.

1) I suggest you go back to cmd.php and get that working before you switch to cactid and create new/more problems.

2) Is that device pingable from your cacti server? Try changing the downtime method to just ICMP if so.

Hi,

- The device is pingable from Cacti server.
- I try all methods downtime, all servers are always "down" status.
Can you give me the list of Cacti sofware versions that runs on W2K servers ?
See you soon.

The versions in my signature should work fine.

Even though it's not likely the problem, I still think you should be using the latest version of mysql (4.026) , php (4.1.1) and rrdtool (1.2.11).

Since you change the downtime to SNMP, does snmp work on the windows host? Do any of the verbose queries return data?
