Title chopping off

I am graphing a bunch of sub-interfaces on a Cisco frame serial interface. We have a detailed description of the interface in the IOS which comes over as If_Alias. When i chose the device and select add Graphs it enumerates all interfaces properly and lists the full description in the If Alias column. But, when i edit the graphs the Title is chopped of at about 30 charaters when i add the If_Alias. I am not sure what is going on?

Hi

try to increase this : Settings -> Visual -> Maximum Title Length

("The maximum number of characters to display for a graph title").

I adjusted it and it had no effect. I don't think that is it. When i view from the device as below you can see the entire Alias description but look @ the Graph view. It continues to clip it. What is the difference? does it re-query the Alias everytime?

It appears the name of the graph template shows the truncated name you want to use. The title of the graph is defined there. Show us that graph template, please.

I think i am lost.

I am using the built-in standard templates to create these graphs see attached. I edited the graph under Graph Management in an attempt to try and get it to start displaying the Alias as i wanted.

That looks OK. Please show us the contents of <yourhost>/cacti/settings.php?tab=visual

Here it is. I bumped up the title length from the original 80 till 100.

All of my other graphs have the standard Titles which are much longer.

Try increasing the "Maximum Field Length" in the "Data Queries" section to 60 characters.

Also, I suggest you specify the font paths explicitly to include a TrueType font (I've encountered character sizing issues without them).

Yes! That did it. I had to delete the graphs and recreate them but they are displaying the full interface Alias now. Thanks.

Hey i had the same problem but i didnt have to recreate the graphs to get the longer aliases appear on my title. You first have to ajust your values in Settings - Visual - Maximum Title Length and Maximum Field Length. Then i went to Graph Templates and included |query_ifAlias|in Graph Template Title and voila! i got my complete aliases on the graph title.

After adjusting Visual tab values as mentioned above, I've used poller_graphs_reapply_names.php script to regenerate graphs names.
No need to recreate the graphs
