Windows Process Template (WMI)

Post by thisisharper »

This is my first graph template so I'm hoping that it works for everyone else. If anyone could tell me how I could get the process name on the graph I'd give you a dollar... I can't figure out how to put text data sources onto the graph.

This works great! Congrats!
How long did it take you to create the xml portion? I wanted to create a processor script (similar to what you did), but have been kind of nervous about creating the XML.

Thanks,
Robb

Thankfully, you don't have to create the XML by hand. You do this inside Cacti be creating the Data Input Method then the Data Template and finally the Graph Template. The best way to do this for the first time is to open 2 instances of Cacti and refer back the the working graph while creating the new one. You'll also need to edit the WMI class in the Perl script to point the Processor class.

How do I know what to pull out of the XML file for the input/output fields? I have read through the cacti manual several times now but its just not clicking for me.

I finally got this working.

Quick question though... what type of WMI/DCOM rights are required? I can pull stats local but any remote system polled returns an WMI error.

Thanks.
