No graphs generated

Post by Burnout »

Hello,

Recently installed a new machine, so I transferred cacti too. Now the problem is, cacti (latest version WITH updates) works well about capturing data, but the graphs aren't generated. The system is Suse Linux.

Generating graphs manually with rrdtool isn't a problem. I don't know where to search any further to fix this problem. Even the log looks nice BUT there isn't anything in it about graphs.

(I installed previous versions of cacti with patches without result).

Somebody who could help? Somebody with the same probz?

Please switch to DEBUG mode (Settings!) and look at cacti.log. Post the log from one single run if in doubt.

This is incomplete. There are update statements, but the polling scripts are mssing from your snipped. Please clear log, wait for one run and post the whole log.

When I click on graphs, I can see in the log that he generates the image files, but I can't see them.

I read the topic about selinux. Those 2 packages are installed --> yast2-theme-SUSELinux and libselinux
I couldn't find those config files to disable it, I am not really sure if it's in use. I don't think 's the problem.

But I saw something -->

Code: Select all

11/28/2005 10:01:10 PM - WEBLOG: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: /usr/local/rrdtool-1.2.11/bin/rrdtool graph - --imgformat=PNG --start=1133125269 --end=1133211669 --title="Zion - Processes" --base=1000 --height=120 --width=500 --alt-autoscale-max --lower-limit=0 COMMENT:"From 2005/11/27 22\:01\:09 To 2005/11/28 22\:01\:09\c" COMMENT:" \n" --vertical-label="processes" --slope-mode DEF:a="/var/www/htdocs/html/cacti/rra/localhost_proc_7.rrd":proc:AVERAGE AREA:a#F51D30:"Running Processes" GPRINT:a:LAST:"Current\:%8.0lf" GPRINT:a:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.0lf" GPRINT:a:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.0lf"
rdtool graph - --imgformat=P <-- the "-" isn't that a mistake? I couldn't find how to solve it.

Can somebody please confirm that the graph output is right?

Everything works in cacti, except displaying the graphs. :(

The Graph Statement works for my installation (copied it to command line and executed from there). You may replace the "-" (the one you worried about; it denotes sending output to stdout) by a filename and run this from command line to see, whether rrdtool produces any errors. Please send a screenshot for your graph if in doubt

Yep, I tried that already and it works, so I really don't know what's wrong with it not showing graphs in webpages. :(

What do httpd logs tell you? A screenshot, please?

Please indicate what platform and rrdtool you are using and if it is either:

a) working, or
b) not working

To start:
OpenBSD 3.8
Apache/1.3.29
PHP/5.0.4
cacti-0.8.6
rrdtool-1.2.11

is not working: no graphs generated in any web pages. If I take the rrdtool command line from cacti.log and run it by hand (as myself, or as the apache uid) then a graph is output.

the problem seems to be in the buffering and/or the php pipe reading in passthrough mode.

That's exactly what's happening to me here. (do I think) Is there a solution for that?

no images/graphs - red herring, or useful?

Post by inetquestion »

Was there a solution to this thread?

I've just migrated from solaris to linux and can see my rrd's updating, but when I go into the graphs there are no images. I took the output from rrdtool and ran this manually redirecting the output to > test.png and it produced a valid image on the data... I'm confused why viewing these through the gui produces no output.

running: 0.8.6i, iplanet 6.1, fedora c6, php 4.4, mysql 5.0

hello

I've got a problem with cacti. My graphs don't appear. I just see the tittle of the graph, with a link, but not the graph itself and even less the background or the tally.

One thing is weird too. After having create a device, my cacti doesn't see their state, their state is always Unknown.

and last point (but not the least) I don't see snmp request with ethereal on my pc, ,but my snmpd is enable and my pc answers to snmp request (for example a snmpwalk request )

[My configuration is php5 and the last cacti. ]

Thanks for your help

This is likely a permission problem. Please retry logging in as cactiuser. Else check error_log of httpd
