I have my multi OID request set to 60. I have many large switches and if I set it down, I start getting more messages like above.

I am running 12 processes with 20 threads a piece. Latest cacti and cactid. cactid takes 145 sec to complete.

Regards,

Willie

Set your OID request to like 30.... And if you still get timeouts, increase the timeout for snmp, but first, reduce the OID request number.

Rony,
I am also getting this error:
11/16/2005 02:45:34 PM - CACTID: Poller[0] ERROR: Problems parsing Multi SNMP OID!

Regards,

Willie

ps. I reduced the OID and it did not seem to make a difference.

Willie,

Please look at the SVN version of Cactid. There have been a few changes that should result in less errors. Also, please note that with so many processes, you are likely running into context switching issues on the box. Have you attempted any tuning of Threads/Processes with an emphasis on reducing the processes?

Larry,

It has been a while since i have had to pull anyting from the repo. Can you refresh my memory on how to do it?

I have tried tuning the treads/processes. If i go over 27 threads, i could get the last version cactid to stackdump each time. i lowered the treads, increased the processes and the problems went away so i left it.

with the number of hosts that I poll, if i go too low on processes, i cannot complete in 5 minutes.

Regards,

Willie

First you need to create a SVN site (svnadmin create cactid), then download the files (svn checkout svn://svn.cacti.net/var/svnroot/cactid).

Willie,

I have corrected additional "stupid me" bugs. You should try SVN.
