It looks like the target device is not responding to snmp queries. Please go to that host in the Device List. Do you see a red error message?. Then, you'll have to
- configure the target host for responding to snmp
- enter the correct community string for that host
- ensure, that no firewall will catch the requests
until that red error is gone. Then, try again

no graph with standard template interface.xml

Post by pepj »

Hello

I have also a problem with the graph of the interface.xml template.
(for Cisco Catalyst 4000. The OID of the interface.xml are OK. I checked it with a smnp browser and with create graph the good values appear)

ERROR: opening 'D:/Programme/Cacti-NetworkMonitoring/rra/sw10101_traffic_in_102.rrd': No such file or directory
When I create for example a graph "CPU" for the same host, I the rrd file is created with the graph.

Here some information:

+ on the device :
- cacti can see the device with snmp: sw10101 (sw10101) ->
SNMP Information -> System: Cisco Systems, Inc. WS-C4006 Cisco Catalyst Operating System Software, Version 7.6(6)
- SNMP - Interface Statistics (Verbose Query) Uptime Goes Backwards Success [1010 Items, 202 Rows]
- when I select the graph I can see all the interface and select one

+ !!!! SNMP - Interface Statistics (Verbose Query) doesn't give an answer

+ BUT with "data source" I obtain thiese result
- Choose a name for this data source -> "|host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName|"
- there is NO index ? (but if I change it, the problem stays)
- but with debug it seems OK:
d:/programme/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe create \
D:/Programme/Cacti-NetworkMonitoring/rra/sw10101_traffic_in_101.rrd \
--step 300 \
DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \
DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797 \
RRA:LAST:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:LAST:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:LAST:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:LAST:0.5:288:797 \

+ the cacti log says: 11/21/2005 02:54:59 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[26] DS[103] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result:
- But all the OID in this template are OK and and "Data Source Debug" gives us an good answer.

Do you have an Idea ?

thanks.

This is not real knowledge, but an assumption:
As long as cacti is NOT able to get snmp answers from you renmote host, it will not create rrd files either. So first you have to solve that snmp problem (e.g. in the Device screen for that very host, you should not have a red error message in the upper left corner)
Please check snmpwalk against this host from command line.
