Bit of trouble with a monitoring script

Post by rkuris »

Hi,

I am trying to track the CPU speed of my machine through a script and I'm having a problem: by the time it gets to the script, it has already run several other scripts which have bumped the CPU up to a higher speed, so I never get a report that it is idle (even though it spent the last 5 minutes doing nothing). Is there some way to specify the order the poller will use when collecting the data?

I am working on a workaround: modifying the cron job to save the current frequency info to a file before running the poller, but I was hoping for something more elegant!

Is the usage of the HOST MIB an option for you? There something like 1 min CPU, 5 min CPU, 15 min CPU. This averages out spikes.
