Just an idea:
instead of typing bps to each link is possible to create categories (aka classes) like "ethernet", "wireless 802.11b","wireless 802.11a" etc that will set that speed? Ofcourse the speed will be configurable by admin
Just a fust way to remember the bps when u have a lot of links to attend

A script query is your best friend. You can use script server if you have a lot of devices, or use perl or strait php if you don't.
