Hi
We are working with an MRTG Infrastructure to monitor
a FibreChannel Environment with around 160 SAN Switches
(Brocade and McData) with ~2000 Ports. Due to more and more
Problems with the Performacne of MRTG and other missing Issues,
we are thinking about switching to RRD.
And now we are looking for a Framework with RRD behind.
Performance Question:
Do you think that CACTI is able to handle these amount of Devices
(every 5min poll 2000 Interfaces) ? Is there way to poll in parallel ?
Graph Question:
Is it possible to show two Interfaces of two independent Switches beside
each other (in two Columns) ? Not one upon the other !. Or in other
words. In MRTG we display the same Ports of two Switches in two
Columns, so we can compare the Traffic of the same two Ports very
easily.
Thank you very much for any Help

Graph and Performance Question

Using a decent box and cactid configured with the right thread count, it should easily be able to handle that. I have 181 hosts with 11702 data sources, producing 6104 rrds....some of my tests are scripts that take about 20 seconds to complete, and my complete run takes about 35 seconds to complete. I am running a dual xeon 3ghz HT's with 2gb of ram....I actually see the biggest problem with disk IO...during the rrd updates the disk is really busy...single raid 1 set....

Concerning looking at 2 graphs besides each other, well, there are 3 tabs at the top of the graph viewing section. Click the one for "List View", then search and select the graphs you want to view together. Don't worry, it will remember graphs you have selected even between searches, just don't click clear, that will clear it..
