Problem adding device with 2040 ATM sub interfaces

Post by chadd »

I am having trouble adding a Cisco 7206VXR to Cacti, which has 2040+ ATM sub interfaces. It takes a very long time to come back after it is discovered (obviously) and doesn't go all the way to the "success" page - it just stops loading. You can go to the devices page manually and see it there though. It is like it was only able to partially complete the add. when I try to add graphs for it, the data sources never get added correctly. They get created, but with no "Index type" no "Index value" and no "Output Type ID". Also, the "data source path" is sometimes missing. I am NOT trying to graph all 2040+ interface, just a select few, but the ones I choose show the above problem.

I have tried to add the device many times, and tried to delete/add the graphs, but it never works. Has anyone come across this? Thanks in advance,

-chadd.

I am going to write something to speed v2 walks by orders of magnitude. It will take a few days and will require the net-snmp snmpbulkwalk command when finished.

p.s. Bug me in a few day's if I haven't responded.

I tried those files you sent Larry, and here is what I got when I logged into Cacti:

Notice: Undefined variable: poller_intervals in /cacti/prod/cacti-0.8.6g/include/config_settings.php on line 513

Here's the revised config_settings.php. You don't want that one. In fact, please edit the settings table and look for a name of "poller_interval" and remove it from that table.

Well, I tried the new config_settings.php file with and without the new snmp.php file you sent before, and I have the same symptoms: takes forever, and never loads the success page after adding the device. My graphs that I have added for the newly discovered host are not updating either. Any other ideas? Thanks,

-chadd.

I also tried the new code with the same result. i tried it on a router with over 8000 subinterfaces on the ATMinterface.

Did you specify the path for snmpbulkwalk in Settings->Paths first? Also, click the green circle when editing the host, not when the interface list is displayed.

It seems like it gets more subinterfaces now , i tcpdumped a little and i saw that it fetched like 30 per bulkrequest, but still i dont get to this screen where it has a show the fetched interfaces and if i press the green circle button i get a new phenomena

but i cant see any interfaces at all not even the FE and GE card on the router.

http://<bogusip>/cacti/host.php?action=query_reload&id=1&host_id=56

this screen is totally empty

And thank you for putting effort into this problem. :)

I am suffering the same problem. For me the router (Cisco 2612) I have only has 4 atm interfaces (4 x ADSL WICs) but when I add the device instead of the success page I get a blank one just like olafson.

If I then go into the graphing page I can see all the interfaces ie 1 ethernet and 4 x ATM but when I create a graph the cpu utilisation comes up okay but none of the interfaces do ie they all have a red x. I have also tried to graph the ethernet interface but this also does not come up on the graph. The network I am graphing has another 8 of these routers with the identical IOS but only 1 x ADSL WIC atm interface and they all work fine

I have tried the new snmp and config.settings file posted earleir with the new bulkwalk path specified to the snmpbulkwalk.exe but to no avail

Any asistance apreciated
