When I select cactid Graphs stop

Post by TFC »

Hi,
I use FC4
fresh install cacti 0.8.6g
when I select cactid as poller type, my graphs stop. You can see below.
Additionally, when I select cactid , no log produce.
I just add only this line into the crontab:
*/5 * * * * cactiuser /www/php/bin/php /www/htdocs/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>
&1
And I locate cactid into cacti paths page like this:
/usr/local/cactid/bin/cactid
Then I select cactid as poller type.
And, there is no graph create.
And, existing graph stops.
anybody help me?

I have the same problem. I have had it for a while, even with .f. I have tried all kinds of stuff. I am just using cmd.php for now, because my "load" is still under 1. I have a development section on my server using a separate database, same versions of cacti and cactid and it works fine with cactid as the poller. I think cactid doesn't like something in my database, but I have no clue as to what it could be.. If you figure this out, please post back, because I would prefer to use cactid.

Turn the logging level in cacti to debug and then manually run cactid. What error do you see?

TFC: as you can see from the log file, the scripts are not returning any data. What cactid version are you running? I suggest you try 0.8.6f-1.

Also, don't pipe the output of the cron job to null, let cacti do it's logging like it should. Whats the path you have set for the log file, which does not apparently work?

Yes I use cactid 0.8.6f-1.
In cacti's settings/paths page, I set the path for log as
/www/htdocs/cacti/log/cacti.log
Also, don't pipe the output of the cron job to null, let cacti do it's logging like it should. Whats the path you have set for the log file, which does not apparently work?

I just do the procedure of cacti install...My contab is like this:
*/5 * * * * cactiuser /www/php/bin/php /www/htdocs/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1
What is the correct crontab?

Now,
I delete all graphs and data sources. Then I create new graph of an interface.
I send new log file

Now, I see that no graph exists. And I debug the graph . I get that:
RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening '/www/htdocs/cacti/rra/a_zk_7507_traffic_in_22.rrd': No such file or directory
Do you need any data?

Just to cut down on duplicate posts I should add that I too am having the same issue,

In short I have upgraded both our Cacti installations from 8.0.6f > 8.0.6g and neither the version f or f-1 of the cactid poller are producing graphs,

Reverting to cmd.php as poller allows the graphs to update,

I'll watch this thread with interest to see the outcome!

Thanks,

Larry

I download all files from cacti.net to app. locations
due to existed files linux add .1 as extension. for example graph.php.1
then I renamed .1 extension files as .php and old files backuped. But nothing changed

Ok, sorry about that. I thought you wanted me to select cactid as the poller and run poller.php. When I run cactid by itself it seems to run through everything fine until it gets to this point:

CACTID: ERROR: Problems parsing Multi SNMP OID!
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
-su-2.05b#

hope this helps.

I can't get the core file small enough to attach, so let me know if you need it and a way I can get it to you(whoever).

chadd: Same goes for you. Are you running the latest cactid and cacti patches?

Yes. cacti-0.8.6g, cacti-cactid-0.8.6f and latest patches for cacti. I did, just, however start to use the "pre-patched" files that Larry put up on the site. I ran Cactid again by itself, and this was the result:

CACTID: Host[94] DS[3402] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: ...
cactid in free(): error: chunk is already free
Abort trap (core dumped)
-su-2.05b#

I included the "WARNING", because there were tons of those, no actual "Oks", but lots of "WARNINGs". I know what the "WARNINGs" are from though. I have datasources I have to clean up.. Any ideas?

Well first TheWitness needs to figure out with you why cactid is crapping out, then you can continue to fix your warnings.
