Hi, I'm having some trouble understanding the relationship between a Data Query and Data Input Methods.
From what I can tell, then are not related. I had originally though that I would need a Data Query to get values to feed to a Data Input Method, but it looks like when using a Data Query that the actual data for the graph is pulled from the query. Is that correct?
I'm trying to use Cacti to graph stats for a service, not really host/network stats and had created a Data Input Method, that returned multiple data points for one logical entity. This was one script call for x inputs. Now it looks like if I use a Query, that there will be a query for each of those fields, which results in multiple script invocations?
Any help would be welcome to understanding when to use a Data Query and when to use a Data Input Method.
Thanks,

I suggest you read the Advanced topic section of the Cacti manual. It explains the differences and uses.
