Well if the user running the scheduled task is different from the one you ran the rrdtool create command, which worked then yes, you do have a permission problem. Make sure the scheduled task user has read/execute rights on rrdtool.exe and create/append rights to /rrd and /log folders.

ah but that is exactly the strange issue
the files are even not created when I run the "poller.php" with my userid... the same userid I used to run the command (rrdtool create ....) manually

so with my userid (who is administrator of the box)
- I run a single rrdtool create command manually --> files are created
- I run the poller.php .... --> no rrdfiles created/updated

there is error I saw flashing over the screen during the poller.php (I think before it calls cactid...

"cannot change to root... command not supported by OS..."

Odd.

1) So you're using cactid? What version?
2) You've turned the logging level in cacti to debug for a cycle and looked to make sure cacti is collecting valid data?
3) You happen to have several cygwin1.dll's floating around on your system?

1) I used the previous version, yesterday I started with the recently released version (8.6.f) same thing
2) yes I did... was posted above here a few posts earlier... it seems to be collecting valid data
3) yes I have but they are all the same version : 1005.18.0.0

I do get this error when I start poller.php

D:\Wwwroot\cacti>php poller.php

1) apply the patches at http://www.cacti.net/downloads/patches/ ... re-patched
2) do not use the win32 version of rrdtool 1.2 from tobi's site. Use the one on the Cacti site.

YESSSSSSS :D :D :D

its working.....O NE (so never mind the previous posts)
you actually provided the solution to my problem in another topic :
You must be using rrdtool-cygwin, NOT win32.
I removed all cygwin1.dll and all rddtool stuff
and installed/copied the rrdtool-cygwin with its accompanied cygwin1.dll

it seems to be working now... files are created.... graphs are being filled...

so.. I'm going to play around with it, and add a number of devices....

Blah, can't believe I missed the rrdtool win32 version...."cannot change to root... command not supported by OS..." was a dead giveaway.

This "no RRA population" was killing me. Can someone update the Windows install documentation (http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... ndows.html) to reflect:

1) php.ini for php5 -must- have cgi.force_redirect = 0 when using IIS
2) download rrdtool from http://www.cacti.net/downloads/rrdtool/win32/

Hrm, now I have RRD files, I still don't have graphs. whee.

Hello guys, thanks to your comment i fix my cacti. (somepart)(graphics create now, but not updates works)

i would like to make nottation on something.. that i see it my self.

i didn't install apache at comun folder ... i haved installed at.

C:\Archivos de programa\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\www\Cacti

and one of the things i have noted. is when rddtools send the command

11/02/2005 07:08:48 PM - WEBLOG: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: c:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe graph - --imgformat=PNG --start=1130882924 --end=1130969324 --title="GARDENER\'S MACHINE - Traffic - 10.0.0.1 (NVIDIA nForce M)" --rigid --base=1000 --height=120 --width=500 --alt-autoscale-max --lower-limit=0 COMMENT:"From 2005/11/01 19\:08\:44 To 2005/11/02 19\:08\:44\c" COMMENT:" \n" --vertical-label="bits per second" --slope-mode DEF:a="C\:/www/Apache2/htdocs/www/Cacti/rra/gardeners_machine_traffic_in_46.rrd":traffic_in:AVERAGE DEF:b="C\:/www/Apache2/htdocs/www/Cacti/rra/gardeners_machine_traffic_in_46.rrd":traffic_out:AVERAGE CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* CDEF:cdefe=b,8,* AREA:cdefa#00CF00:"Inbound" GPRINT:cdefa:LAST:" Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefa:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s\n" LINE1:cdefe#002A97:"Outbound" GPRINT:cdefe:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:cdefe:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s"

this is the fixed one.. But. in this specific section i was seeying something like this

11/02/2005 06:46:03 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: c:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe create c:/Archivos de programa/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/www/Cacti/rra/gardeners_machine_traffic_in_43.rrd --step 300 DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797
11/02/2005 06:46:03 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: c:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe update c:/Archivos de programa/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/www/Cacti/rra\gardeners_machine_traffic_in_43.rrd --template traffic_out:traffic_in N:U:U

If you see at the folders name there are spaces and the rddtools was trying to create a rrd file if you probe that with CMD

C:\PHP\php.exe c:\www\Apache2\htdocs\www\Cacti\poller.php

It came out with some error about Parsing 'de , And it's correct becouse there no spaces has to be when run rddtools create

If i probe it this way.

c:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe create c:/ARCHIV~1/APACHE~1/Apache2/htdocs/www/Cacti/rra/localhost_traffic_in_25.rrd --step 300 DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797

Like old style in format 8.3 folders, it createme the file. without problems. (rrd file)

Just for make more information about this issue

By other way. I have fixed the graphics removing de cygwin1.dll from forlder rrdtool and leaving the cygwin1.dll on the folder of Cactid version 1005.18.0.0

Now my only problem are the uptdates.. it's non working.. But i will let you know if can fixed.

Regards

Right, as you've already noticed you cannot have spaces in your folder paths (unless you use the old 8.3 name).

Yeap, the thing is when rrdtools try to work on background it uses..

c:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe create c:/Archivos de programa/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/www/Cacti/rra/gardeners_machine_traffic_in_43.rrd

Instead of

c:/rrdtool/rrdtool.exe create c:/ARCHIV~1/APACHE~1/Apache2/htdocs/www/Cacti/rra/localhost_traffic_in_25.rrd --step 300 DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797

This is my question/sugestion how do you specificate to rrdtools.exe? to try to work with 8.3 folder format?

Any way. As says BSOD2600, don't change the steps of his webguide. It's real Cool. thanks a lot BSOD2600.

Can you helpme with my issue?

One big and important comment about cygwin1.dll.

After several times of probing. Let me tell this. If you don't use cygwin1.dll on the folder of Cactid (and you have selected the Poller (settings) Cactid).. if you don't have de cygwin1.dll, IT WONT WORK)

I'm not very expert on this tool. But Do i really now that.. if you don't have cygwin1.dll on the folder of rrdtools and cactid (has to be the SAME VERSION)

if you don't put it this way.. it not create the rrd files.

Now i'm still stuck on tring to make it work my graphics.. :(

This is why I suggest in the install guide to install Cygwin, so you dont have to deal with this problem.

1) When posting log files or the output of a command window, for the sake of easy reading, pipe it into a file and then post that (i.e. php poller.php >file.log)

2) Even though you're using the 8.3 folder names, I strongly suggest you move your folders around so there are no spaces in the path. Cacti/rrdtool really doesn't like them.

3) Turn the polling level in cacti to debug (Settings | Polling level) for one cycle and paste the output of the actual log file (./cacti/log/cacti.log). If it contains WEBLOG entries, then don't bother posting since they just clutter up the log. Turn off WEBEVENTS logging and try again.
