Howto install a script correctly?

Post by opm »

Sorry Community,

but might it be possible for someone who is keen on inserting self made script into cacti to post a full Howto? And please not on frensh!

I tried to follow the frensh version of the howto and I got to work only one of my 5 skripts. Even if I did all steps simultaniously the other 4 are not working!

The scripts work well, have the correct execution rights. The Logfile tells:

Code: Select all

10/11/2005 09:15:20 AM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[180] DS[6532] SCRIPT: /srv/www/htdocs/cacti/scripts/syslog_dbinfo.sh, output: U
10/11/2005 09:15:20 AM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[180] DS[6532] WARNING: Result from SCRIPT not valid. Partial Result: ...
or something like that:

Code: Select all

10/11/2005 09:15:17 AM - CACTID: Poller[0] Host[137] DS[6127] SCRIPT: /usr/bin/perl /srv/www/htdocs/cacti/scripts/GetNTP.pl 10.174.1.10, output: o:99 s:2
But the corresponding graphs are empty!

please help me!

The usual place to start is http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... thods.html. There's also a walkthrough at http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... graph.html (AFAIK, these docs are to be found at your <path_cacti>/docs).
Perhaps you'll find additional hints while searching the forum

Bottom line, prepare your output and then write to output once. If you are using Cactid, it won't wait to see a cr-lf before puking or rather moving on and generating a warning.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
