rra not updating

last night the server i run cacti on ran out of disk space. i cleared that up this morning, and ever since the rrd's haven't been updating. the logs show that data is being collected as it should be, only the graphs aren't getting any of that data. the graphs continued to grow, only without an new values.

when i look at the rrd files, none of them have been touched since the space ran out last night. i've tried applying the latest versions of rrdtool and cacti, but nothing has made a difference. i've removed both from my server and reinstalled fresh, and there hasn't any improvement. in fact, once i replaced the rra file, i couldn't fiew them at all. file permissions are not a problem here, i've checked. new graphs are having the same problems.

i'm wondering if anyone can help me determine something i've overlooked.

if i have indeed screwed myself over, i'm willing to just scrap and redo the whole thing, in which case i'm wondering if there is a good way to import all of my old data.

i've tried to attach the debug log i ran before i wiped and rebuilt everything, but at 344k it is too big. i can provide a one on request, or i can provide any specific lines to match for. if there is more information that would be helpful, let me know. i'll also post updates as anything occurs to me or i find something else out.

Check/Repair your database.....

Then run the following query:

truncate poller_output;

Then from the web interface, in System Utilities, run "Clear Poller Cache". This will rebuild, not clear, the cache and show you the results.

i just relized that i didn't provide any version info, so here it is:

debian 3.1
rrdtool 1.2.11
mysql 4.0.24
cacti 0.8.6c-7

this is my current setup, and except for rrdtool is what i was using yesterday when this worked. oh, and the only thing that changed between working and not-working states was the filesystem filling up. i've done things since that might make the problem worse, but i'm curious as to what affects that may have had on things. bonus points to any ideas that can get me working again with all of my old data.

just ran through two polls and i'm still seeing the same thing. none of the graphs are updating yet. i'm not seeing thumbnails right now either. i'll patch up to the latest cacti when i get a few minutes, unless there's a good reason for me not to do so.

nevermind. apparently waiting until the third iteration is what i needed to do. i'm getting new data now. still can't see thumbs, but i don't care about that right now.

Double check your rrdtool version that you have installed and the version setting in cacti. Make sure they are the same.

I'm having the same problem. How do I repair the database and run the truncate command? I know nothing about rrdtool.

rrdtool -v 

Do this from the command line, it will give you the version that you have installed. Better yet, check which one cacti is using by looking in Settings->Paths. Then execute that rrdtool with a "-v".

Once you know the version, then check that your RRDTool version in Settings matches the version you are running.
