No rrd files, no poller cache, no graphs, no nothing.....

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to install cacti on my win 2003 server, I'm using the same products versions than BSOD2600.

So far, I haven't been successful in anything but generating errors....

I've been reading almost every posts on this forum for days, now.... Still nothing works very well.

Unfortunately, I have no poller cache nor SNMP cache generated....

And of course, no rrd files created......

I attach my cacti log and the results of the php poller.php cmd.php.

1) Do you have polling disabled?
2) Does cacti consider your device(s) up?
3) Did you grant read/execute rights on cmd.exe and rrdtool.exe to IUSR?
4) Have you created any data sources in cacti for it to poll?

2) Yes, in order to test cacti, I only configured Localhost as an active device.
3) Yes, I use the Domain Admin to perform every action.
4) Yes I did (see attachement)

In addition I have "SNMP error" displayed on my device page. I have the SNMP service enabled on my server.....

By the way, I use Apache 2.0.54, instead of IIS.

Your localhost device graphs are designed for Unix/Linux hosts. They do not work on Windows.

The SNMP error is due to SNMP either not being enabled, or you have the wrong community string.

I changed my data sources (see attachement).

I enabled the SNMP service on my server with the exact same community string configured in cacti.....

Nothing much changed.....

Wrong approach....

Here is what you need to do to create interface traffic, errors, unicast, non-unicast graphs.

1. Edit the device and confirm that are not getting and SNMP error.

2. Add or Refresh (Click the green circle) the "Associated Data Query" for " SNMP - Interface Statistics".

3. Now, click on the "Create Graphs for this Host" graphs link at the top.

4. Under "Data Query [SNMP - Interface Statistics]" select the interface you want to graph, then select the "Graph Type" that you want to create. Click the Create Button.

5. Read the documentation.

I had indeed a bad SNMP config.... I used GetIf to troubleshoot my config, I made changes in the SNMP services on my server, and I got data from my poller. Still, I get this "SNMP error" in cacti and the graph displayed don't show any data.....

The good news is that I finally receive the rrd file (localhost_snmp_oid_9.rrd) I needed.

Any idea?

P.S. Trust me, I read many times the documentation, in vain.....

Are you able to sucessfully poll your cacti server with GetIf via snmp? Because as you've noticed, cacti is unable to get any snmp data. Make sure a firewall isnt blocking snmp traffic and you've using the proper snmp community string.

Also, I see from your log that you didn't specify an OID for two data sources.

Hi there,

I polled my server with Getif, and there was no problem....

I tried to specify OID's for my datasources, but still, it doesn't work. I don't know why I get this error: "Result from SNMP not valid. Partial result".
Is it because I didn't specify the right OID's, or is it I specified the wrong Data Queries (again...)?

Plus, I can't resolve this "SNMP error"....

Does somebody have the exact configuration about Data queries, graph templates, and all that stuff, in order to get basic information on my cacti server?

1) 172.16.124.191 is your cacti server which you were able to poll with getif but not cacti? You're polling from the same box right?
2) Did you specify only certain IP/Hosts in the SNMP service can access the server?
3) What firewall / AV are you running?
4) In the future when you post your log file, post the real thing from ./cacti/log/cacti.log
5) To resolve the "Result from SNMP not valid. Partial result", turn the Poller Logging Level to debug for one cycle and look in your log file.
