Broken images instead of graphs in tree mode...

Post by pryker »

I have just installed Cacti v0.8.6b Fedora Core 2 binary RPM package on A Fedora Core 2 server. I foloowed the installation instrucions carefully. Everything worked very weel with the exception of graph creation in tree mode. The default view in tree mode for a hosts graphs only displays broken links but if you click on one of the broken links the graph displays properly. In console view under graph management the graphs also display properly. Just seems to be related to tree mode.

The only thing I find in the logs is this:

10/04/2005 11:19:58 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 296 seconds exceeded. Exiting.

And it gets entered every five minutes which tells me there is some problem with poller exiting properly.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

I turned on debug mode and cannot find any errors in the cacti.log file. But I do find these errors in the httpd error_log:

ERROR: Garbage ':40:47 To 2005/10/04 13:40:47\c' after command:
COMMENT:From 2005/10/04 12:40:47 To 2005/10/04 13:40:47\c
ERROR: Garbage ':40:47 To 2005/10/04 13:40:47\c' after command:

ERROR: Garbage ':40:47 To 2005/10/04 13:40:47\c' after command:

COMMENT:From 2005/10/04 12:40:47 To 2005/10/04 13:40:47\c

I resolved the issue with poller timing out. It was unrelated. Still no images in deafult tree mode though.

Thanks

Confirm that you have the correct version of rrdtool selected in your cacti settings to what is on the system.

Do you mean the path to the correct RRD binary?? I only have one... so, yes. It is the correct one. It generates graphs everywhere excpet in the default tree mode. In tree mode I can click on a broken link where a graph is suppose to be and it will properly show the daily, hourly, weekly and yearly graphs for that item. Just will not show up in the default tree mode. I believe the log messages above in error_log point to a problem but I am not sure where to start looking.

Thanks

No, I mean in the web interface, Settings -> General -> RRDTool Utiltity Version is the same as the version you are running.

"rrdtool -v" will tell you what version you are running.

Cannot find it...

OK, I have checked the interface over completely and I do not have that option. I have included a screen capture of the interface you are referring to and as you can see I do not have a place to specify that.

Maybe I am a dummy... :-) I just cant find it.

Cacti 0.8.6b won't have the rrdtool version option. You really should be using cacti 0.8.6g.

/smacks forhead

Sorry.... What version of RRDtool are you running? If you are running 1.2.x, you need to be running 0.8.6g to fully support it. Otherwise, you will have to be running RRDTool 1.0.x.

I am running 0.8.6b and was running RRDtool 1.2.X. I just tried to downgrade RRDTool to 1.0.X and now all the graphs are broken and I am getting the following error in the httpd/error_log:

ERROR: can't handle RRD file version 0003
ERROR: can't handle RRD file version 0003
ERROR: can't handle RRD file version 0003
ERROR: can't handle RRD file version 0003

So, now I assume this version is wrong as well?? What cacti / rrdtool verios should I be using?

At this point you either have to delete your rrd files or upgrade Cacti to 0.8.6g and apply the official patches. Your RRDfiles are in 1.2.x format.
