Ping Latency Graphing from Windows

Post by warwick »

Hi Guys

First time Ive used cacti under windows here (windows 2000 pro SP4) using IIS

I seem to be hitting a brick wall with latency graphing, I've tried changing the ping.pl as was suggested on here some where, Ive tried advanced ping 1.2 ive tried smoke-ping and no luck. Is there a prebuilt data sorce and graph avaiable that works under windows without having to mess with it?

Sorry if its a silly Q but Ive been working on it allafternoon and am about to go insane

Thanks

What error(s) are you getting?

Turn on debugging in cacti and post a polling cycle.

You're using rrdtool-cygwin which you got from this site, right? 'cause the formatting for the rrdtool create is wrong.

1) what versions of everything are you using?
2) Do any graphs work or are they all broken?
3) Turn the polling level in cacti to debug (Settings | Polling level) for one cycle and paste the output of the actual log file (./cacti/log/cacti.log). If it contains WEBLOG entries, then don't bother posting since they just clutter up the log. Turn off WEBEVENTS logging and try again.

When you manually run perl C:/cacti/scripts/ping-latency.pl 10.0.1.29 from the command line, does it work? Sure the host(s) you're trying are pingable ?

Advanced ping started working for me for a wee while but I kept gitting to the point where there were 10 cmd.exe running and IIS would error with there was too many users then I would have to reboot or kill all cmd.exe and restart iis. I first noticed this after a added 10 additional latancy graphs after my 1 test one had been working fine for an hour or 2

When from the cmd prompt in the cacti dir I run the cmd you mention above I get that script opening in notepad (Im guessing this is not what I should get?)

It would appear every time the poler runs 2x cmd.exe fire up and after about 20 -30 sec one of them ends but the other remains there
