I cannot create/update the graph from the poller

Hi Guys,

i think i'm not the only one with the rrd problems.

I actually installed the cacti on a windows XP machine but the only problem i have is the creation/updating of the graphs.

I enabled the debug on the log and this is the result:

It looks like everything is ok but if i go and see the graph files they are not updated. in the meantime if i just run the command on a dos shell than the graph is updated with no problems.

Any suggestion?

If when the scheduled task runs and the graphs are not updated, but when you run poller.php they are, then you have a permission problem.

Make sure the user running the user running the scheduled task has modify rights to your rrd folder.

i had the same thought but unfortunately the user that is running the poller.php is the same user i'm using when i use the dos shell.

just to be sure i was doing the correct thing ( and please help me on this ) i have set the permission in this way tothe directory

drwxrwxrwx+ 2 stefanoj None 0 Sep 14 19:16 rra

done with the cygwin. ( with WinXP i had some troubles )

I wouldn't use cygwin to set your security. Do it the proper way, by getting properties on the rrd folder, click on the security tab, and then add/modify the rights for the user running the scheduled task. Make sure you replace the security on all child objects. To make sure the rrd files have the correct security after you've done this, get properties on one of them and take a look at the security tab. It should have the same rights you just set on the rrd folder.

Actually this is what i knew but with winXp seems to be a little bit different.

I did what you said andin the attachment you canfind the outcome of the windows screenshots.

i knew there was also another way how to change the permission by cli. but i completely forgot.

I just changed the attributes of the read only and it looks like now it is working perfectly.

In windows explorer, go to Tools -> folder options. Disable simple security. Now you should see the tab.
