Hello all,
I just installed cacti with quite new versions of all software. Now I end up with error:
Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in C:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\lib\adodb\drivers\adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 339
when I try to connect to http://xx.xx.xx.xx/cacti
For me it looks like an MySQL issue on authentification.
Any Ideas?

1) Did you forget you put your mysql cactiuser information in ./include/config.php ?
2) Try the old password trick
3) If you're using php 5.05, try going back to 5.04.
4) What versions of everything are you running?

Now working!
Thanks a lot!
The Old Password trick solved my problem!
Now I could start the cacti website. I choose 'New Install' and verified all paths. But now I have to Login and admin/admin doesn't work, neither my
cactiuser/cactipassword combination...
Working under WinXP with SP2:
php: 4.4.0
cacti: 0.8.6g
cactid: 0.8.6e
apache: 2.0.54
mysql: 4.1.14
rrdtool: 1.2.11 ( from Cacti Downloads)

It's strange:
I start http://xx.xx.xx.xx/cacti for the first time. I don't get a login, but I'm asked about all those first installation pages, where I configure the paths. Afterwards I get the Cacti Login page. I enter admin/admin, and literally nothing happens! Cacti does not reject my Login with a 'invalid user' message, but just repeats showing me its loginpage.
I reinstalled everything from scratch with MYSQL 4.0.26, same result.
I also tried the 'Reset admin password' from the FAQ section in the manual.
Thanks in advance...
