cacti on Postgresql

I'm wondering how receptive A) the developers B) the community is on the idea of having postgresql supported as a backend RDBMS for cacti? I already have better than 75% of the port done. Feed back on the collective take on things would be welcome.

Please send me a Personal Note with respect to your desires and what you have done with the code base to provide the support articulated in this thread. I would also like to port to MSSql and Oracle and I am very interested in what you have already done with respect to Postgresql.

For the user interface and cmd.php it is a no brainer. From a Cactid perspective, it's a little more involved.

I would also be very interested to see cacti running with a postgresql backend. is there any update on the port? and what about future cacti releases? will a postgresql version of those be avalible as well?

Multiple database support is planned for future release of cacti. The next release will not include it, but will be closer to being able to support it. Full multiple database support is planned for later version in 0.9.

I am also interested in mssql support. Would this be accomplished through an odbc? How much of the app will work with mssql already?

I use PostgreSQL for everything and would like to be able to use it for Cacti as well. I dislike needing MySQL for anything.

Bummer... Current version of cacti only supports mysql.

The second or third release of 0.9.x cacti will support multiple databases. We currently antispate supporting the following databases with cmd.php polling only:

mySQL
PostgreSQL
MSSQL
Oracle

It is undecided at this point if cactid will support the other database formats.

Many mentions of a .9 version which will do lots of cool stuff with regard to supported databases. Are there any tentative dates on when this will be coming out? Given that this thread is quite old I would hope its days away.
