Extreme Switch IP stats (per VLAN)?

Post by Howie »

I have cacti happily graphing switch ports on our BlackDiamond, but now I'd like to be able to see counters for data actually leaving a VLAN (where it is routed out to another VLAN). I thought there was a 'virtual' SNMP interface for the IP interfaces, but none of the things that look like the right one register any data.

I have a customer with 7 ports in one VLAN. There's an interface named rif34 which has an ifAlias of the IP range. That one shows tiny (200bits/s) amounts of traffic. There's one named "802.1Q Encapsulation Tag 0188" that shows nothing at all, and another with the actual name of the VLAN, which is also showing nothing.

Has anyone got this working on a L3 summit or BD?

Same Issue

We have also run into this same issue. Has anyone had any luck getting VLAN monitoring on Extreme devices to work correctly?

We never got this stupid extreme crap to graph correctly. Whether its the gear that is stupid or its us remains to be seen.

It *could* be a combination of both, under most extreme product pages there is a text stating:

Extreme extensions to 802.1x-MIB
also on some it says:
ExtremeWare private MIB (includes ACL, QoS policy and VLAN config)

Yea, did you acquire and read the proper MIB for that product?

I will take a look into this... I have been messing w/ Extreme since the Gen-1 version of hardware and software... I put up a template for the non-XOS extreme devices a while ago... just traffic, CPU & MEM for starters... I have been busy and have not been able to expand on it... If I find something, I will let you know.

Are the VLAN's tagged or set to a QOS profile?
