Odd behaviour with Cajun switch
I've a P580 Cajun that I'm trying to poll. I've added the device and selected the interfaces to graph.
One interface is a physical port, the others are vlans. The physical port is graphing as normal, but the vlans arent. The cacti log shows no error output. They appear in the tree under the host, but only with IEs image-not-found red X.
I switched on debug, and the cajun shows up with two entries only in the log (the working physical port). The cajun is host id 6. So where are the other vlan interfaces ? They are listed under the Data Sources as IDs, 510, 511 and 512, but don't seem to poll.

Do you see these DS entries in the System Utitlies -> View Poller Cache?

If you don't see it in the poller cache, you shouldn't see it in the logs. I would delete what is created and recreate it.

Tried that too. One thing I do notice is that when I create the graphs, instead of translating the |ip_desc| to something "real" in the *Created graph message at the top, it leaves it as |ip_desc|.
I wonder if this might be a firmware issue with the Cajun. I'll experiment with some others next week to see what happens there.

This is another known issue. I am uncertain what the fix was. It has something to do with sub-interfaces i think. Please walk the interfaces MIB and post it to this forum. We might be able to figure it out that way.

Well.. I thought I'd check the cajun a bit further. When I do a walk I get:
Doing a walk I get:
...
IF-MIB::ifDescr.108 = STRING: Module 7, Port 6
IF-MIB::ifDescr.109 = STRING: Module 7, Port 7
IF-MIB::ifDescr.110 = STRING: Module 7, Port 8
IF-MIB::ifDescr.111 = STRING: demo-foundry
IF-MIB::ifDescr.112 = STRING: Foundry2
IF-MIB::ifDescr.113 = STRING: SGSN5_Foundry
IF-MIB::ifDescr.114 = STRING: msc72
IF-MIB::ifDescr.115 = STRING: pcserver
IF-MIB::ifDescr.116 = STRING: cisco_ggsn
...
So I know that polling Module X,Port X works ok, but for example Foundry2 fails.
Heres an SNMP walk of those specific items:
C:\snmp\share\snmp\mibs>snmpwalk -On 172.19.225.1 ifIndex.112
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1.112 = INTEGER: 112
C:\snmp\share\snmp\mibs>snmpwalk -On 172.19.225.1 ifDescr.112
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.112 = STRING: Foundry2
C:\snmp\share\snmp\mibs>snmpwalk -On 172.19.225.1 ifInOctets.112
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.112 = Counter32: 0
All this seems to match the default interfaces.xml file
Doing a walk I get:

Ah... maybe this isn't an SNMP issue after all. When I turn on debug for the graph I get :
"
RRDTool Says:
ERROR: opening 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\cacti/rra/utran_cajun_traffic_in_987.rrd': No such file or directory
"
So Cacti isn't creating the RRD file.. And it might not be doing that because the text being used for the Name is : "UTRAN Cajun - Traffic - |query_ifDescr|/|query_ifIndex|".
Anyone know what to try and diagnose next?? Theres no errors about the rrd in the log.
Attached is the verbose output. One thing I notice is that the Index walk finishes at 294, the iFDesc finishes at 294, but the ifName/ifAlias stops at 110 ??

Well.. an snmpwalk on some of the high range numbers reveals that the Cajun doesn't report the names back for past 110, eg 173 :
C:\snmp\share\snmp\mibs>snmpwalk -On 172.19.225.1 ifName.1
.1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.1.1 = STRING: Ethernet Management
C:\snmp\share\snmp\mibs>snmpwalk -On 172.19.225.1 ifName.173
C:\snmp\share\snmp\mibs>
So I guess thats why it breaks. Only question now is "what can i do about it" ?
C:\snmp\share\snmp\mibs>snmpwalk -On 172.19.225.1 ifName.1
.1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.1.1 = STRING: Ethernet Management
