Disable SNMP polling
Okay, here's a crazy question...
I want to use Cacti to monitor Microsoft devices WITHOUT having SNMP enabled. Can it be done? I've seen issues where the poller will not collect the data from my WMI queries because it first wants to check the device with SNMP.
Any takers?

Change the polling downtime method to Ping only. Then your WMI query scripts should work fine.
| Scripts: Monitor processes | RFC1213 MIB | DOCSIS Stats | Dell PowerEdge | Speedfan | APC UPS | DOCSIS CMTS | 3ware | Motorola Canopy |
| Guides: Windows Install | [HOWTO] Debug Windows NTFS permission problems |
| Tools: Windows All-in-one Installer |
After first adding it, the status should be UNKNOWN. Can you truly ping your host from the cacti computer fine?

The SNMP error has to do with cacti trying to query the device for some basic SNMP info. It's related to this thread. If cacti polls the device with your scripts fine, then you can ignore the snmp error.

This is default behavir, if you clear the read string (hokey workaround), Cacti will ignore the SNMP string and it will instead say "SNMP Not In Use".
