1 min polling interval and existing history in RRD files

Post by Ev »

Can I set 1 min polling interval for existing graphs ? (existing RRD files) ?

I set 1 min for new graphs, and it works normally.
But it isn't work for old foles with new parameters.

Export to XML and import from it with changes ?

Post by sugunakar »

Dear Ev,

I was trying to change the poll interval.

Could you please let me know the procedure to change the polling interval?

I would like to have step by step info in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

I do : (this - for all new graphs and DS)

1. Change the cron job entry (for every minute, on example to */1)

0-59 * * * * [job]

2. Change the related DataTemplate or DataSource "Step" to 60 instead of 300.
[In Data sources (templates): Step must be 60 and Heartbeat should be 120.]
3. Change the related DataTemplate or DataSource "Heartbeat" to 120 instead of 600.

4. Create new RRA
Data sourcers -> RRAs -> add "Hourly (1 Minute Average)"
select "average" and "max"
x-files: 0.5
Steps: 1
Rows: 720 or 500
Timespan: 7200 (2 hour) or 14400

Add this RRA in graph template

5. Make new graph's from new templates.

Note: with this method cactid will recall ALL DS every polling interval.
Authors of Cacti wrote patches for polling some of devices with short, some - with another interval, but I don't test it.
