Change in situation

Post by Herman »

I decided to remove all related items to monitoring ExchangeCPU and started all over. Made a Data Input Method which is based on SNMP and has as an output field "xchgPercentCPU". Then I made a Data Template that refers to the DataInputMethod I had created before and in which I created xchgPercentCPU as the Data Source Item (gauge). Then I defined the Data Query with an xml snmp-query; there for some reason I selected Get SNMP Data (Indexed) as Data Input Method. A bit later when the Data Source was defined, an rrd-file was generated and is updated every 5 minutes now (polling). Then I made a Graph Template for a line graph with the previously created xchgPercentCPU DataSource. In debug mode, the RRDTool says "OK". All of this seems OK, nevertheless the graph remains empty. Running the dataquery gives correct CPU-values. I put on debug and found that all polling is ok for this host except my xchPercentCPU:

09/01/2005 03:10:19 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[13] SNMP: v1: 10.1.1.14, dsname: xchgPercentCPU, oid: , output: U
09/01/2005 03:10:19 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[13] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result:

Any suggestions?

Try using the OID numbers instead of snmp name for xchgPercentCPU.
Can you sucessfully get valid data with getif or snmpget for xchgPercentCPU or its OID?

Yes, I was already monitoring this Exchange server succesfully with Concord's eHealth software (too expensive). The only thing I had to change in Cacti to get a succesful verbose data query was to change the SNMP port from 161 to 1691.
Now, where exactly do you suggest inserting the OID numbers? In the DataSource? I tried the datasource item, but that field is to short to hold an OID.

thanks
