Time and Timezones

Post by IvanW »

Hi All,

I have managed to install cacti onto Windows XP and with the help of the message board have got everything pretty much running as required. I have an outstanding problem with time though.

I am in New Zealand which is GMT +12. When using cmd.php I can see from the logging that data is being put into the rrd files with the correct timestamp. When I use cactid I can see that entries are put into the rrd file with a timestamp 12 hours ahead of the current time. I really want cactid to use the correct time.

My system is set to NZST and to the correct local time. I have also noticed that the time shown when viewing graphs is shown as GMT not NZST.

Any ideas, sugestions and solutions much appreciated.

Well, I'm currently in BST, using cactid, and it all works ok.

There are two parts to windows Timezones. Local user and system. Can you verify they are both on +12?

I mangaed to get this working now with both cmd.php and cactid. It seems that php wasn't able to tell what timezone my machine was in. After a lot of searching and trial and error I found that you can set the timezone in php.ini. In my case adding date.timezone="Pacific/Auckland" fixed it. A good source for the timezone options which I found hard to find is http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzref.tzc
